Archiving Policy

Archiving Policy

Ilomata International Journal of Tax and Accounting

Policy Statement

Ilomata International Journal of Tax and Accounting (IJTC) is committed to ensuring the long-term preservation, availability, and accessibility of all scholarly articles published by the journal. Digital preservation is essential to protecting the integrity and continuity of the academic record and ensuring that published content remains accessible to researchers, authors, librarians, institutions, and the wider public.

To support this commitment, IJTC employs multiple digital preservation and archiving mechanisms, including the Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network (PKP PN), Portico, and archiving practices based on the Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe (LOCKSS) principle. These systems provide distributed and secure preservation copies to reduce the risk of permanent content loss.

PRESERVATION
Published articles are preserved through recognized digital archiving services.
CONTINUITY
Archived copies help maintain access if the journal website becomes temporarily or permanently unavailable.
ACCESSIBILITY
Long-term preservation supports continued scholarly access for future generations.

PKP PN Archiving Service

Ilomata International Journal of Tax and Accounting participates in the Public Knowledge Project Preservation Network (PKP PN) to preserve its published scholarly content. PKP PN provides a decentralized digital preservation infrastructure specifically designed for journals using the Open Journal Systems platform.

Through this service, secure copies of published articles and related journal content are stored across a distributed preservation network. This approach protects the journal archive against server failure, technological disruption, accidental deletion, data corruption, or other risks that could affect continued access to published materials.

Distributed Storage
Preservation copies are maintained across multiple secure network locations.
Content Protection
Archived content is protected against data loss, technical failure, and website disruption.
Long-Term Availability
Published articles remain available for future readers and researchers.

Portico Digital Preservation

IJTC also supports long-term digital preservation through Portico, a trusted preservation service for electronic scholarly publications. Portico is designed to safeguard journal content and ensure that preserved materials remain available when access through the original publishing platform is no longer possible.

Portico preservation contributes to the continuity of the scholarly record by securely maintaining archived versions of published content and supporting access in circumstances such as discontinued publication, platform failure, or other significant interruptions.

LOCKSS Preservation Principle

IJTC follows the preservation principle of Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe (LOCKSS). This approach is based on maintaining multiple copies of published content in distributed locations so that scholarly materials can be restored or recovered if one copy becomes unavailable or damaged.

Multiple Copies
Distributed copies reduce dependence on a single server or storage location.
Risk Reduction
Replication helps protect journal content from accidental or permanent loss.
Content Recovery
Preserved copies support restoration when original files become inaccessible.
IJTC may utilize official preservation agreements and compatible Open Journal Systems preservation plugins to support distributed archiving and long-term access.

Long-Term Access and Publication Continuity

The journal's digital preservation arrangements are intended to ensure that published articles remain accessible even if IJTC experiences technical failure, changes its publishing platform, temporarily suspends operations, or permanently ceases publication.

Archived versions may be made available through participating preservation services in accordance with their access conditions and preservation procedures. These measures support the continued availability, authenticity, completeness, and integrity of IJTC's scholarly content.

Through the use of distributed preservation services and multiple archiving mechanisms, Ilomata International Journal of Tax and Accounting seeks to ensure that its published scholarly record remains secure, discoverable, accessible, and available for future generations of researchers and readers.
